VMUG Leader!
I have been attending VMware User Group (VMUG) meetings for a number of years, but in the last few years I've become more active with doing a number of presentations.
The opportunity to present in a local community is a great experience. For me it has helped me grow in a number of areas, both technically but also personally. Through my presentations and contributions in my local User group, a long with the content I've created and shared through my blog, I was given the VMware vExpert award in 2018 and it was renewed in 2019.
The vExpert program is about "giving back" to the community, so when I spoke to a fellow Norwegian vExpert and one of the VMUG Norway leaders, Christian Mohn, about becoming even more active in the User group earlier this year the timing couldn't be better. It turned out that at least one of the existing leaders was to leave the leadership team.
So after a few days I was welcomed by the rest of the local leadership team!
Even though the local VMUGs are independent from VMware there are a few steps one needs to go through before officially becoming a VMUG leader. With the help of the European VMUG team at VMware I completed these and during the summer I have been confirmed and accepted as a part of the VMUG Leadership in Norway.
This is a great honour for me and I am excited to be a part of organizing the user group in Norway and help to grow the Norwegian community. If you have any questions about VMUG or want to contribute please feel free to reach out!
Oh, btw. In a few weeks I'll have some more news to present... Stay tuned!
